2016 Resolutions

I’ve never really been into New Year’s resolutions.  I agree with my mom when she says, “If you want to achieve something, don’t wait until New Years. Do it now.”

That being said, sometimes it’s fun to have little New Year’s resolutions. After pondering, these are the little goals that I want to attain in 2016.

1.Practice yoga every day

I love yoga. I find it relaxing, yet challenging. It takes strength, flexibility, and balance. However, I usually forget to take time to practice yoga because I’m too busy or tired. I really want to take at least 5 minutes everyday, no matter if it’s in the morning, at night, or somewhere in between, to do yoga. Hopefully I can go from barely being able to touch my toes to mastering crow pose, dancer pose, or something even more complex .

2. Find some non-dairy “ice cream” recipes to try.

Anyone can tell you that I love ice cream. Ice cream is my favorite dessert, and I will always love it. Unfortunately, I have been plagued with lactose intolerance. I say every other day that I’m going to stop eating ice cream, but that clearly fails every single time. Hopefully I can find some delicious recipes that taste like real ice cream so that I don’t have to put my stomach through so much pain.

3. Learn to like tea.

I want to love tea so badly. The theory of drinking warm tea while wrapped up in a snuggly blanket sounds so relaxing. Plus, there are so many flavors of tea, and each flavor has a multitude of health benefits. However, I can’t get past the taste of tea. To me, tea tastes like really awful flowery-barf water. I’ve tried various types of tea and haven’t enjoyed any of them. 2016 is the year, though. They say that if you eat or drink something enough you will learn to like it, right?

4. Surrender more to the Lord.

I’m a total control freak. I have all my ducks in a row, and I love routine. Life usually doesn’t go according to the plan that I have created for myself, and when that occurs, I freak out. I get so anxious about the tiniest things, and I cause unnecessary stress in my life. In these situations, I just need to give it all to God. I want to trust Him wholeheartedly with everything in my life. It’s hard for me to do, but I know that by surrendering to His will, not my will, I will have so much more peace.
